We tackle poverty in our communities through focused programmes that address the root causes while providing immediate relief to those in need. Our comprehensive approach combines education, artistic expression, basic needs support, and community empowerment to create lasting change. The journey to end poverty for good begins with empowering a child, supporting a family, and strengthening a community. We are a youth-led, community-rooted organization. Our solutions come from the people who understand the challenges firsthand — the residents of Kibera, Mathare, Huruma, and beyond. Poverty in Kenya’s urban slums is not just about lack of money — it’s about broken systems, limited opportunities, and generational inequality. Families struggle with food insecurity, unsafe housing, and limited access to healthcare and education. Your support allows us to offer holistic solutions — from nutrition and emergency relief to youth mentorship, talent development, and education for teen mothers.
Our Programs
Young people are not just the future of their communities – they are powerful agents of change today. Our youth leadership programs provide training, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to lead community improvement projects, advocate for their needs, and develop the skills needed for future leadership roles. These programs cover leadership skills, project management, public speaking, community organizing, and civic engagement. Participants work on real community challenges, developing solutions that benefit their neighbors while building their own capacity and confidence.
Food insecurity affects thousands of families in Kenya's slum communities. While food itself is not scarce globally, many families simply don't have the economic resources to purchase adequate nutrition for their children. Our food security programs include emergency food distributions during crises, regular food support for the most vulnerable families, and longer-term interventions that help families develop sustainable income sources. Beyond food, we provide hygiene products, household essentials, and other necessities that help families maintain health and dignity in challenging conditions. Our approach emphasizes building community capacity and connecting families with existing resources and services whenever possible.
Teen pregnancy is both a cause and consequence of poverty in many communities. Young mothers often face impossible choices between caring for their children and continuing their education. Our MaMITO (Mama Mtoto - Mother Child) centers provide comprehensive support that allows young mothers to complete their education while developing practical skills for economic independence. These centers offer high school completion programs, vocational training in high-demand fields, financial literacy education, and comprehensive support services including childcare, healthcare referrals, and mental health support. We also work with families and communities to address the stigma and barriers that young mothers face.
Every child has unique talents and potential that deserve to be nurtured and celebrated. Our arts programs provide structured opportunities for children and youth to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and gain confidence through performance and artistic expression. These programs serve as powerful alternatives to risky behaviors while building life skills, leadership capacity, and social connections. We offer programs in theatre, music, dance, visual arts, and digital media.
