Transforming Communities Through People-Powered Solutions

At GVAKenya, our projects are more than programs — they are partnerships with the people we serve. Every initiative is built from the ground up, informed by lived experiences and shaped through community consultation. We believe effective development must be inclusive, long-term, and locally led. From slum settlements in Nairobi to remote corners of Kisumu and Mombasa, our work addresses Kenya’s most pressing social and economic challenges: poverty, food insecurity, youth unemployment, and systemic inequality. We collaborate with government agencies, grassroots organizations, and international partners to ensure our efforts are sustainable and scalable.

Completed Projects

A national platform to celebrate creativity and potential among orphans and vulnerable children. Over five years, this initiative nurtured hundreds of young performers in music, dance, theatre, and art — with many receiving scholarships and professional mentorship.

A multi-day arts-based festival promoting peace, dialogue, and unity in conflict-prone urban areas. Through performances, exhibitions, and peace workshops, this festival became a flagship model for cultural healing and youth-led peacebuilding.

Tuungane Tuchungane (Let’s Unite and Care for Each Other)

A grassroots community cohesion project that brought together residents from diverse ethnic backgrounds to work on shared goals — from clean-ups and infrastructure repair to economic development and inter-ethnic dialogue. This initiative created stronger, more inclusive neighborhoods and long-lasting networks of cooperation.

Our Approach to Community Projects

GVA Kenya Logo

Every project begins with a listening process — focus groups, surveys, and community forums — to ensure that our interventions reflect actual needs and build on community strengths.

We prioritize long-term impact by creating systems that continue to serve communities beyond our direct involvement. Sustainability, dignity, and inclusion are embedded into our design process.

From planning to implementation, community members are part of the solution. We believe real change happens when people are empowered to take ownership of their future.

We are committed to full transparency and provide consistent reporting on outcomes, challenges, and progress — because our work belongs to the people who fund and benefit from it.
